City Council Elections 2026 – Make It Green!
Nature. Climate. People.
For a Good Life in Oldenburg.
Our demands:
Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation
Oldenburg is set to become climate-neutral by 2035 and be better equipped to cope with heatwaves, heavy rainfall, and environmental strains.
Implement heat planning in a socially just manner, make municipal buildings climate-neutral, make public spaces greener and pavements more permeable, protect peatlands and reject projects that harm the climate!

Urban Planning, Infrastructure, Housing
Urban planning, infrastructure and housing go hand in hand: for liveable neighbourhoods, safe routes, a strong public transport system, and affordable housing.
Strengthen cycling and walking routes, public transport, Carsharing, 30 km/h speed limits and “Schul- und Spielstraßen”, make use of vacant properties and secure climate-friendly housing!

Economy and Finances
We invest responsibly in essential public services, climate action, infrastructure and a strong local economy.
Strengthen regional cycles, start-ups, businesses, skilled workers, reusable products, municipal land ownership, free Wi-Fi, broadband internet and digital services!

Welfare Policy
Welfare policy is about participation, dignity and support for all – combating poverty, exclusion and homelessness.
Strengthen social infrastructure, healthcare, hospitals, protection against the heat, healthy ageing, Housing First, outreach social work, hygiene products supply, and integration!

Children, Youth and Education
All children and young people need fair opportunities, good nurseries, reliable all-day care, inclusive schools, and genuine participation.
Expand the quality of nursery care, day care, inclusion, introduce the fourth IGS (Integrated General School), teaching assistants, good school meals, a youth parliament, strengthen youth organisations and extracurricular learning environments!

Administration
A modern city needs a well-resourced, citizen-focused, transparent, and digital administration.
Improve working conditions, service, accessibility, participation, access to information, digitalisation, Green IT, and sustainable procurement!

Urban Culture
Culture is what makes Oldenburg a vibrant city.
Let’s safeguard cultural institutions, the independent arts scene, clubs, intercultural projects, the “Kulturpass”, the “Kulturtafel”, independent theatres, temporary uses of spaces, the culture of remembrance, and accessibility in the cultural sector!

Sports
Sports promote health, participation and social cohesion. We are committed to sports for all, volunteering, and local spaces for physical activity.
Let’s promote sport in nurseries, schools and clubs, swimming, accessible and renovated sports facilities, sustainable management and inclusive programmes!

Women* and Equal Opportunities
We are working to eliminate discrimination and promote inclusion, work-life balance, equal opportunities, and protection from violence.
Consultation, work-life balance, career opportunities, diversity in politics, gender parity, women’s* shelters, and the action plan against violence – let’s strengthen these permanently!

Queerness
Queer rights are human rights. Oldenburg should protect LGBTIQ+ people and strengthen queer organisations.
Promote the Queer Action Plan, counselling, events, training courses, support groups, all-gender toilets, rainbow families, and protection against discrimination!
